What is special about nasturtiums?
Nasturtium is a great neighboring plant for your other vegetables: bees and butterflies love it.
It is an excellent aphid, root and white fly catcher around crops that are sensitive to them and attracts the caterpillars of cabbage whites.
The flowers, young leaves and even the seeds are edible.
Sowing and growing nasturtiums
The cultivation is problem-free. The seeds do need a lot of moisture and some heat to germinate.
This plant produces long tendrils. The best place is therefore on the side of the container: this way the shoots can continue to grow outside the container.
Will the plant proliferate or will the spent vines become ugly? Then rigorously cut away everything that bothers you: the plants can withstand extreme pruning.
